I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If there is water still leaking, turn off the water to the appliance or fixture if possible, or go straight to the main water shutoff valve for your home. If you are unable to locate a main valve to turn off, then you may want to try turning on all the cold water taps inside and outside the house to depressurise the pipework and minimise the leak.

Now give our on call plumbers a ring, any time day or night. We’ll be at your home as soon as we can to save the day.

While waiting, remove any significant items close to the leak, and clean up any water or place a container to catch any drips. If you’ve turned the mains water off, switch off the heating for the hot water as well.
