I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If there is still water leaking, turn off the service valve to the appliance or fixture if you can, or go immediately to the main shutoff valve for your home. If you’re unable to locate the tap to turn off, then you could try turning on all the cold water taps inside and outside your house to depressurise the system and minimise the leak.

Now give our on call plumbers a ring, any time of the day or night. We’ll be there as soon as possible to save the day.

While you wait for our emergency plumber to arrive, remove any significant things, wipe up any water, and put a container to catch drips. You should also turn off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.

Help, I don�t know where the main water shutoff valve is!
